'Resilience' is a word increasingly used in the field of humanitarian response and international development. But what exactly is resilience, and what does it mean for the education in emergencies field? In fact, resilience has been studied extensively for over 40 years, including in relation to education. This FAQ seeks to clarify the conceptual underpinnings of resilience and provide some concrete illustrations of what it means to apply resilience to work on education throughout the continuum of preparedness, response, recovery, and development.
